HYPE speakers for 2017-18 revealed

We are excited to announce the speakers for the 2017-18 HYPE Career Ready Program. Once again, you’ll have the opportunity to hear from six big-name, big-time speakers to inspire you, including: 

Jodie Sweetin

Jodie Sweetin -- Full House and Fuller House Actress, Sept. 14 (Values). Best known as Stephanie Tanner, the sweet-as-pie middle sister from the hit sitcom, Full House, Jodie Sweetin has lived a life far darker than her TV personality. She has emerged triumphant over the unyielding grip of drug and alcohol addiction, now devoted to sharing her story to help others afflicted by similar pains. UPDATEDue to her filming schedule, Jodie Sweetin is no longer able to attend her HYPE session.
 

Nyle DiMarco

Nyle DiMarco -- America’s Next Top Model and Dancing with the Stars Champion, Deaf Community Advocate, Oct. 18 (Collaboration). Nyle DiMarco won the mirror ball trophy on ABC's Dancing with the Stars (season 22) and was the last model standing on The CW's America's Next Top Model (cycle 22). He is winning over audiences as an influential leader and ambassador for the deaf community.

Morgan Spurlock

Morgan Spurlock -- Super-Size Me Academy Award-Nominated Documentary Filmmaker, Nov. 14 (Work Styles). Morgan Spurlock sparks conversation and inspiration with his cheeky and thought-provoking narratives on a wide range of social issues including fandom, obesity, income inequality, immigration and the influence of branding. Best known for his critically acclaimed hit documentary Super Size Me and the CNN original series Inside Man, Morgan’s unique approach to examining societal issues makes them engaging, entertaining and accessible for audiences.

Daymond John -- Founder & CEO of FUBU and Investor on Shark Tank, Jan. 24, 2018 (Job Search Skills). From humble beginnings to one of the most sought-after branding and marketing experts in the country, and an investor on ABC’s hit show, Shark Tank, Daymond John has elevated himself to a 21st century renaissance businessman, setting the standard of excellence in marketing, branding, and business.

Michael Sam

Michael Sam -- NCAA All-American Football Player and LGBT Athlete, Feb. 13, 2018 (Conflict Management). The 2013 SEC Defensive Player of the Year and a University of Missouri football star was primed for an early-round pick in the 2014 NFL draft. Michael Sam’s talents on the field were nearly sidelined when he came out as gay during an ESPN interview. While his revelation sent shockwaves through the sports world and resulted in a last-round pick by the St. Louis Rams, Michael emerged as a powerful and prominent icon for inclusion, a pioneer for the LGBTQ community and an exemplar of the resilience and tenacity of the human spirit.

Beverly Gooden

Beverly Gooden -- Victims’ Rights Advocate and Creator of #WhyIStayed hashtag, March 15, 2018 (Communication). Beverly Gooden is an award-winning social activist, speaker, women’s health advocate, content creator and originator of a viral Twitter movement. #WhyIStayed was named by TIME as one of the Top 10 Hashtags That Started a Conversation and is one of 8 Hashtags That Changed The World according to CNN affiliate, HLN.
