PURSUITS: Week of March 7, 2016

In February, students in Dr. Karen Jones' Early Childhood Science Methods had the opportunity to visit St. Francis on Science Day. The students, Kyleah Brey, Katelyn Crow, Dorothy Faris, Elizabeth Finnegan, Ayako Hampton, Alexis Pennington, Elizabeth Volz and Mikaela Weldy, assisted Sister Shirley at the St. Francis Earth Literacy Center with elementary children learning about physics and chemistry.

Chris Tucci (theatre) is among 30 actors, playwrights, directors and theatre-makers who will participate in "the drag-racing of the theatre world" this weekend in Columbus. The artists will create six new short plays in 24 hours, starting at 7:30 Friday night when they split into teams, write their plays and begin eight hours of intense rehearsals. 24 Hour Theatre 2016 will open just 24 hours later, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. A second show will be at 10 p.m. through the Available Light Theatre, Riffe Center Studio Two, 77 S. High St. 'Berg alumni David Glover and Dakota Thorn are among the artists also working on the production.

Sean Joyce (computer science) is serving as a reviewer for ACM/CSTA/Code.org K-12 computer science education framework. The project will identify key K-12 computer science concepts and practices, and is being designed so that states and school districts can use the resulting guidelines to create their own frameworks, guidance and standards for computer science education throughout the elementary and secondary levels.
