2017-18 theatre season celebrates impact of women

With the theme Keep Calm and Women On, the School of Music & Theatre will celebrate women and their impact on hearts and minds all over the world during its 2017-18 season. Theatre Director Stephen Svoboda has announced the lineup of productions that will be coming to the Gundlach Theatre stage next year:

The Diary of Anne Frank (Sept. 21-14): While hiding in an annex, another family moves in with the Franks, hiding from the threats outside. As time goes on, Anne’s mind is filled with politics and literature, and her heart is filled with compassion and care for a boy. The Frank family will soon face more troubles that will change their lives forever.

Little Women, the Musical (Nov. 16-19): While their father is away at war, their mother, Marmee, is guiding her children to a brighter future. Not only is losing the family a big challenge for the March sisters, but they will soon face other individual challenges.

How I Learned to Drive (Feb. 8-11): As Uncle Peck volunteers to teach his niece, “Lil Bit” how to drive for the first time, he warns her about certain dangers in the world. Uncle Peck isn’t the only one with a dark family secret.

Sister Act, the Musical (April 12-15): She was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Now that she’s beginning a new chapter in her life, will her past catch up to her?

Auditions for the fall productions are being held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 9. Click here for additional info or email Stephen at ssvoboda@ heidelberg.edu
