45 'Berg student-athletes earn Academic All-OAC honors

WESTERVILLE - The Ohio Athletic Conference has announced that 45 Heidelberg student-athletes have received Academic All-OAC honors. The accolades are given to fall varsity athletes who maintained a 3.5 GPA throughout the end of Spring 2023, and have completed one full year at Heidelberg.

Women's Soccer led all teams with 15 student athletes garnering recognition. Football tallied 11 while Women's Volleyball added eight. Men's and Women's Cross Country notched seven between the two. Men's Soccer finished with four.

Three seniors led the charge for the Women's Soccer team with Makenzie Damsa, Katelynn Helminiak, and Madi Lause headlining the list. Juniors Olivia Dulay, Brigid Enright, Riley Ireland, Viviana Palmer, Raigan Staup, and Brooke Warnock all earned honors. Rounding out Head Coach Madalynn McLaughlin's squad were sophomores Caitlyn Cross, Syd Hewer, Carly Jones, Olivia Perry, Baylie Phillips, and Yaniah Powell.

Football, under the direction of Scott Donaldson, landed 11 on the Academic All-OAC list. Seniors Cody Benesh, Collin Hubbs, Gavin Looney, and TJ Rhamy earned honors. Matthew Drdul, Alec Edgington, Kaleb Lamb, and Cole Poorman represented the junior class on the list. The sophomore class saw a trio of Owen Gibbs, Kobee Hooker, and Bryant Pfeifer all earn their spot.

Jason Miller's Volleyball squad landed eight student athletes on the list. The lone senior earning the award was Anamya Truex. Five juniors garnering honors included Riley Ameel, Bridgette Burrus, Grace Dohanyos, Grace Porter, and Jeylo Rodriguez. The sophomore duo of Grace Smith and Kaitlyn Uffman also were on the list.

The Cross Country squads, led by Head Coach Brian Grime, had two seniors honored -- Nathan Jimenez and Leanndra Price. Hudson Black was the lone junior on the list. Sophomores earning laurels included Vova Herdman, Kenneth Miles, Ana Henderson, and Maddie McCall.

Men's Soccer had four guys honored by the conference. Trent Green was the lone senior while juniors Braelin Houston and Timothy Zack made the list. Sophomore Lucas Stein rounded out Head Coach Nick Spell's squad.
