Juneteenth activities on campus, in Tiffin, Ohio

The community is invited to join the Second Annual Juneteenth Celebration for Tiffin-Seneca County on Saturday, June 19 at 7:00 pm at the Frost Kalnow Amphitheater at East Green of National Corner. Participants include Ms. Faith Abrams and Ms. Hope Abrams, both recent graduates of Tiffin Columbian High School, Dr. Sharon Perry Fantini of Tiffin University, Rev. Aaron Gerlach of Old Trinity Episcopal Church, Rev. Marilyn Coney of Faith United Methodist Church, Mr. Shaun Gunnell of Heidelberg University, Dr. Michael Goodnough of Tiffin University, Ms. Alex Carter of Heidelberg University, and Mr. Ben Gillig. Enjoy Juneteenth Bingo, poetry, music, a historical presentation, prayers, and proclamations from Tiffin City Council.

At the conclusion of the evening, the group will walk to the Civil War Museum of Tiffin to raise the Juneteenth Flag celebrating the liberation of African Americans from slavery in the United States on June 19, 1865.

Other Juneteenth community events include a display at the Tiffin-Seneca County Public Library; the Third Thursdays Trivia Night sponsored by TSEP and the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library held on Thursday, June 17, from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the Frost-Kalnow Amphitheater on the East Green; a Juneteenth Flag Raising Ceremony at Heidelberg University’s Beeghly Library at 9:30 am on Friday, June 18; and a Social Justice Action celebrating Emancipation from Slavery at 4:00 pm on Friday, June 18 at the Seneca County Justice Center Free Speech Corner (Washington and Market).
