Concert Choir closes out performance season

With its theme Sun, Moon and Stars, the Concert Choir and the Chamber Singers, under the direction of Dr. Greg Ramsdell, will present their annual home concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 1, at St. Mary Catholic Church.

The first half of the concert celebrates the gift that each day represents: an opportunity to live, to be awakened to joy and to celebrate the wonder of life in both nature and one’s spirit. By contrast, the second half of the concert emphasizes nocturnal themes such as enjoying the fellowship of friends, reflecting with satisfaction on a hard day’s work, experiencing the joys and sorrows of love, and pondering the wonders and mysteries of the universe and our role in its divine order and design.

“Whether or not the relationship of each piece to our theme is readily apparent, we hope there will be no question that each piece of music on the program has been expertly wedded to inspiring texts of universal appeal,” Greg said.

Several selections feature solos or accompaniment by students from the choir. Featured soloists include Stephen Smith on organ, Kristina Kamm on flute, Alexis Cook and Cedric Robinson on violin, and Teddy Berger and Hannah Taulbee on percussion. Vocal soloists include Kelly Devine, Enya Granados, Hallie Grunder and Christian Kiesel.
