Updates from the Institutional Review Board

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) wanted to remind you of the upcoming IRB application deadlines. The final full review deadline is Saturday, nov. 12, 2022. This Saturday is also the deadline to submit any new IRB application for the Fall 2022 semester. We will continue to review proposals that have already been submitted, but we will not review any new applications after Saturday.

You are welcome to submit new applications after 11/12/22, but they will not be reviewed until the Spring 2023 semester begins.

Please also keep in mind that all faculty and staff supervising students conducting research must also complete the online IRB ethics training every two years. All students must complete the online ethics training as well as the Navigating HU’s IRB training. The online ethics training can be completed at any time. Please email me at irb@heidelberg.edu letting me know that you have reviewed all five of the training topics and the associated quizzes, and have received 100% on all of the quizzes.

Navigating HU’s IRB training will be offered on the following dates during the Spring 2023 Semester:

• 2/9/22 at 11am in Zoom
• 3/14/22 at 11am in Zoom

The full review deadlines for Spring 2023 are as follows:

• February 11, 2023
• March 11, 2023
• April 8, 2023
