Influenza on campus

The Heidelberg community has had many cases of influenza (flu) on campus. Influenza is widespread in Ohio this winter. People who have the flu often have some or all of these symptoms:

• Fever or feeling feverish/chills

• Cough

• Sore throat

• Runny or stuffy nose

• Muscle or body aches

• Headaches

• Fatigue (tiredness)

• Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea, though this is more common in children than adults.

Medical care is available to students in the Stoner Health, Counseling & Disabilities Center Monday-Friday 7:15 a m.-4 p.m.  Walk-in hours are available 8:30-10:30 a.m. After hours, medical care is available at the Walk-in Urgent Care or Mercy Hospital - Tiffin. Students are asked to go home, if able, if they are diagnosed with influenza and asked to stay in to prevent the spread. In the fall, yearly influenza vaccination is highly recommended and available on campus to help prevent influenza.

If you have any questions, please contact Janelle Baldosser, CNP Director of Health, Counseling & Disabilities Center, at x2042.
