Check out the France restoration/renovation project

On Wednesday, May 5, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., France Residence Hall will be open for self-walking tours. The rear door, facing Krammes Service Center, will be open beginning at 9 a.m.

Groups of 4 or less should enter from the back of France and take the elevator up to the 4th floor (Society Halls). After viewing this floor, the group will take the east stairs (facing National Machinery) down to the 3rd floor (residential floor). After finishing the 3rd floor, the group will take the south stairs (facing Greenfield) down to the 2nd floor (residential floor).  After finishing the 2nd floor, the group will take the east stairs again (facing National Machinery) down to the first floor (Society Halls, Great Room). Groups will exit through the Brown Hall connection hallway off of the Great Room.

In order to continue with COVID compliance, we are asking groups of no more than 4 to attend for the self-walking tour. The elevator will not be used to access the lower floors, unless a medical accommodation is needed. Outside distancing will be required, so please come prepared for the weather.

Also, to keep our groups spread out, we will be asking those community members to come to France based their last name. Tour schedules will be based on the following criteria:

  • Last name starts with A, B, or C – 9 a.m.
  • Last name starts with D, E, or F – 9:30 a.m.
  • Last name starts with G, H, or I – 10 a.m.
  • Last name starts with J, K, or L – 10:30 a.m.
  • Last name starts with M, N, or O – 11 a.m.
  • Last name starts with P, Q, or R – 11:30 a.m.
  • Last name starts with S, T, or U – Noon
  • Last name starts with V, W, X, Y or Z – 12:30 p.m.
  • Open time – 1-2 p.m.

By following this schedule, we will help reduce crowding and allow everyone an opportunity to view France Hall.
