Ordering Academic Regalia

May 5, 2020

Dear Members of the Class of 2020,

We indicated in a previous email that we would provide you with information about ordering academic regalia, and we are sorry it has taken some time to get back to you with this information.  Today we want to share with you a couple of options for securing your cap and gown.

We have been working with our vendor, Herff Jones, to get a website set up for you and your family to order academic regalia.  But like so many operations in our current pandemic situation, Herff Jones has been overwhelmed with requests, and the process has been slower than we had anticipated.  We are still hopeful that the website for Heidelberg will be set up by the end of this week.  Unfortunately, our Herff Jones representative has indicated that even after the website is up and running, items will be back-ordered for a few weeks.

Alternatively, we have identified a vendor, gradshop.com, that has told us that they would be able to ship academic regalia in 5-7 days (with RUSH shipping available) so that you could receive it by May 17, if desired.  The cost for your cap, gown, hood, and tassel would be slightly more if you chose to order from gradshop.com.  You will need to act quickly and you will need to know information regarding the type of gown and the appropriate hood/color specific to your degree when placing your order.  Please check the attachment for descriptions and photos you will need.

We hope this communication has clarified questions you may have about obtaining your academic regalia.  It continues to be our hope to celebrate the Class of 2020 in person as soon as we are able and as soon as it safe for all of our students, families, faculty and staff, and guests to attend. Congratulations to each of you as you conclude your Heidelberg University undergraduate or graduate journey and become Student Princes for life!

Sincerely,

Dr. Beth Schwartz
Vice President for Academic Affairs & Provost

Dean of Student Affairs
