Student Housing Selection: News about France Hall

With the Housing Selection Lottery coming up next week, we wanted to give you an update on the France Residence Hall restoration/renovation project, which was due to be completed in time for student occupancy this fall. Early on in the renovation, France Hall revealed some unexpected issues not uncommon with structures of its age. Unfortunately, these issues have caused some construction delays. We had hoped that the project would be completed in time for student occupancy this fall, but that is no longer an option. The completion date is now projected for sometime late in the 2020 Fall Semester.

If you had planned to select a room in France Hall in the Housing Selection Lottery, you will still have that opportunity. However, for the fall semester, you will be placed into another residence hall temporarily. The good news is that you’ll be able to move into France Hall in the 2021 Spring Semester.

Additionally, all Greek organizations that have meeting space in France Hall will continue utilizing their temporary spaces this fall in Miller Hall. The Greek groups will be able to move back into France in the 2021 Spring Semester as well.

If you have any questions about the Housing Selection Process or the upcoming lottery, please reach out to Dennis LoConti, Area Coordinator for Residence Life and Housing, at dloconti@heidelberg.edu
