Tiffin Juneteenth Celebration: Community

The Tiffin Juneteenth Committee presents the third annual Juneteenth celebration, June 17-19. This year’s theme is “Community.” The Tiffin-Seneca County community and visitors of all ages are invited to come together for a weekend of fun, informative, and entertaining events.

The kickoff event will be a Juneteenth Community 5K Walk/Run at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 17. Registration is $20. Then Saturday evening at 7 p.m., a free musical celebration and reflection will take place as a prelude to the East Green Concert. On Sunday, there will be a worship service at 10 a.m. at the East Green Amphitheatre, with dynamic guest speaker Pastor Kristopher Johnson. The weekend concludes with a fish fry community meal and award ceremony for the winners of the art & essay contest. The community meal is free but pay-it-forward donations are welcome.

Additionally, the interactive installation “Hymnal Walk: Songs We Sing! Highlights of Black American Hymn Writers” will be on display at the Tiffin-Seneca Library from June 12-24. The art & essay contest is currently open for artistic or written submissions from participants pre-K thru adult.

For more information about the art & essay Contest, email Kiera Harper at kharper@heidelberg.edu. For more info about the Juneteenth “Community” Celebration contact RevGerlach@oldtrinityepiscopal.com or Dr. Nichole Griffin at ngriffin@heidelberg.edu.
