Heidelberg University Driver Eligibility & Travel Policy

The new policy was approved by the Senior Leadership Team and the Board of Trustees on October 19, 2019 and incorporates information and guidelines to provide clarity and information on how an individual may be approved to drive on behalf of the University as well as when an individual may have that privilege revoked. The Driver Eligibility & University Travel Policy is designed to promote the safety of Heidelberg University students, faculty, staff, volunteers and guests engaged in University travel. Key changes include:

• Newly established driver approval guidelines for individuals wishing to operate owned, rented or leased vehicles as an authorized driver for the University.

• Minor and major violations rubric which identifies the conditions an individual may or may not be eligible to operate a vehicle on behalf of the University.

The new policy can be accessed on the Krammes Service Center web page here. The policy is administered and interpreted by the Krammes Service Center, the Office of Human Resources, and the Office of Campus Safety and Security. Transportation Manager, Nik Boyer and the Director of Campus Safety & Security, Jeff Rhoades can be contacted for clarification of the new policy and questions.

A review session for the policy have been scheduled for Tuesday, November 12, at 4 p.m. in Herbster Chapel

Nik Boyer and Jeff Rhoades will be available to answer all of your questions about the policy at the review session.
