Learn More about the MLK Jr. Day Art Show

Use your talents to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. Submit any of the following types of art: original paintings, drawings, videos or poetry; recorded readings of poetry or excerpts (2-minute limit); and recorded musical/movement performances (5-minute limit).

Accepted formats:

  • original (deliver to Julie Arnold in Office of Dean of Student Affairs)
  • videos (recorded using Canvas Studio), pdf, jpeg (submit to Julie Arnold at jarnold3@heidelberg.edu)

Deadline: MLK Jr. Day, Monday, January 18, 2021 by 5 PM

Prizes:

Prizes will be judged based on art as well as relevance to any one of the 4 themes (see below). Be sure to note your theme with the title of your work. Prizes are Amazon gift cards valued at $100 for 1st prize, $75 for 2nd prize, and $50 for 3rd prize. Winners will be announced on Friday, January 22.

Art will be made available for campus viewing through Canvas.

  • Monday, January 18 -- History Through the Lens of Race (Part 1)
  • Tuesday, January 19 -- History Through the Lens of Race (Part 2)
  • Wednesday, January 20 -- Microaggressions, Privilege, and Implicit Bias
  • Thursday, January 21 -- The Media and Race
  • Friday, January 22 -- Heidelberg Allyship & Moving Heidelberg into Action
