SMT to welcome Russian pianist

World-renowned pianist Nikita Mndoyants gave his first public recital at age 8 and recorded his first CD at 10. He’ll bring his talents to Heidelberg Friday, Jan. 26, as the School of Music & Theatre’s Distinguished Montague Artist. His concert, which is free, will be at 7 p.m. in Brenneman Music Hall.

Mdoyants’ concert will feature pieces by classical composers Haydn, Beethoven and Brahms, as well as an original composition, titled “Intermezzo.”

A graduate of the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow, Mndoyants has toured in Asia, Europe, Russia and the U.S. and has appeared in major concert halls around the world. After giving his first chamber performance in 2004, he has continued to cultivate his passion for chamber music and has released solo and chamber recordings on the Classical Records and Praga Ditigals labels.  Since 2013, he has taught orchestration at the Moscow Conservatory.
