'It's On Us' to prevent sexual assault

Heidelberg is joining the national It’s On Us Campaign. During the week of Jan. 30, the university will kick off a semester-long series of events in an effort to stop sexual violence and harassment on college campuses.

Launched by former President Barack Obama, It's On Us asks everyone -- men and women across America -- to make a personal commitment to step off the sidelines and be part of the solution to ending campus sexual assault. Heidelberg joins hundreds of universities and organizations trying to make college campuses safer.

Events for the week include a screening of Hunting Grounds in collaboration with Tiffin University, a condom wallet cover design contest and a panel discussion with victims of sexual assault. Upcoming in March, there will be an interactive student event along with self-defense classes. In April, Heidelberg will host a Sexual Assault Awareness Week of more activities and events, including a screening of Fantastic Lies and a Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event.
