Speech Team earns recognition at Ohio University

Heidelberg’s Speech Team earned high honors at two tournaments this past weekend at Ohio University. McCartney Betz led the Berg’s efforts towards a first-place finish in the President’s Division of Team Sweepstakes. She placed second in Radio Broadcasting, second in Programmed Oral Interpretation and third in Dramatic Interpretation.

OU hosted a second tournament for varsity speakers in which Hannah Petitti was the tournament champion in Extemporaneous Speaking and Katie Bauman won fifth place in both Radio Broadcasting and Informative Speaking.

Schools from four states participated in the weekends activities. Director of Forensics Dan Higgins had high praise for his team. “We’ve got a small squad this year but their results have been outstanding. Our students continue to demonstrate some of the best that Heidelberg has to offer.”

Heidelberg will host the Ohio Forensic Association’s State Varsity Tournament on February 14-15.
