Fed expert addresses workforce development challenges

Lisa Nelson

The challenges of workforce development, especially on a local level, was the topic for the School of Business's State of the Economy presentation Tuesday. Keynote speaker Lisa Nelson, a community development advisor in the Community Development Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, shared the results of Fed studies that define the necessary ways education and training work hand-in-hand to address workforce development issues. Some of these are poverty, a workforce that is under-trained on one end of the spectrum and aging on the other end, among others. About 50 local business and economic development leaders and students attended the presentation.
