'Berg again designated a Military Friendly School

The 2021-22 Military Friendly® Schools list has been released, and Heidelberg University is among the colleges and universities recognized for providing excellent educational choices, opportunities and service for veterans, their spouses and the military community.

Institutions earning the Military Friendly® School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. This year, more than 1,200 schools participated in the survey with 747 earning the designation. Those schools will be included in a list that will be published in the May issue of G.I. Jobs magazine and can be found at www.militaryfriendly.com. This is the 11th year the list has been published.

“We are proud of our history of working with veteran and active-duty military students to ensure they have opportunities to earn a Heidelberg University degree in a seamless process,” said Dr. Tony Bourne, vice president of Enrollment Management & Marketing. “Heidelberg continues to provide service members and their families individual attention to make sure credits are transferred, VA benefits are applied and degree paths are clear from the outset.”

Heidelberg regularly works directly with veterans who are looking to begin or return to college, meeting them on their timeline, working with them one-on-one to provide resources and assuring that they receive the academic benefits to which they are entitled.

Methodology, criteria and weightings to determine the Military Friendly® Schools list were compiled and evaluated by Viqtory with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey response set and government/agency public data sources, within a logic-based scoring assessment. Criteria included an institution’s ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement or transfer) and loan default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans.

“Military Friendly® is committed to transparency and providing consistent data-driven standards in our designation process,” said Kayla Lopez, national directory of Military Partnerships at Military Friendly®. “This creates a competitive atmosphere that encourages colleges to consistently evolve and invest in their programs. Schools who achieve designation show true commitment and dedication in their efforts.

“Our standards assist schools by providing a benchmark that promotes positive educational outcomes, resources and support services that better the educational landscape and provide opportunity for the military community.”
