Donor-created opportunities take center stage on TAG Day as students say thanks

Thank you, Donors. That was the loud message for the 14th annual TAG (Thank A Giver) Day on Thursday. More than 100 students rallied around the theme, gathering at The Commons to sign 1,400-plus thank-you cards to donors. Their participation was their way of expressing their gratitude for all of the opportunities that donors’ gifts made possible.
TAG Day is sponsored by the Student Alumni Association, advised by Ashley Helmstetter. SAA students were up bright and early on Thursday, placing “tags” around campus – on individuals, buildings and various items that exist because of donor support.
“Our students truly embraced the spirit of TAG Day. It was gratifying to watch them pause between classes to write notes, record videos and sign thank-you cards to donors who make so many of their opportunities possible,” said Ashley Helmstetter, advisor of SAA.
“TAG Day reminded all of us that philanthropy is deeply personal. Because of our generous supporters, our students learn about opportunities AND live them. TAG Day gave them a chance to express their gratitude in a very tangible way.”
