Students rally to thank donors on annual TAG (Thank A Giver) Day

Just as donors have rallied for the Berg with their generosity, so too have students. On Thursday, the Student Alumni Association (SAA) held their 13th annual TAG (Thank A Giver) Day.

As part of the day, more than 100 students descended on The Commons to personally sign 1,400-plus thank-you cards to donors, expressing their appreciation for all of the opportunities their gifts have provided across campus.

In addition to the thank-you cards, students “tagged” the campus with more than 400 signs – on individuals, buildings and items that exist because of donor support.

“This year’s celebration was even more special as Heidelberg marks its 175th anniversary,” said Ashley Helmstetter, Associate Vice President for Advancement, Alumni, and Community Relations. “Our donors’ generosity allows us to be Opportunity Makers for generations to come and ensures that Heidelberg thrives for another 175 years and beyond.”

TAG Day '25

SAA, working with advisors Ashley, Sydney Hieronymus and Bob Youngblood, organized and staffed TAG Day. Huge congrats to Aubrey Baker, Charlie Barker, Grant Terry, Morgan Wright, Abbey Yarris, Kyla Stockdale, Lydia Hess, Sarah Grosse, Rayce Septer, Garrett Wahl, Collin Parker, Jonathan Marty, Jimmy Johnston and Matthew Kittle for planning and executing such a successful event.

Although TAG Day is fun-filled with photos, giveaways and social media, its underlying concept is to teach our students about the joy of philanthropy and to reinforce the advantages it gives them and the essential ways it touches every phase of the university.

“TAG Day gives the campus community a deeper appreciation for the
impact of donor support and helps everyone understand what it truly means to be philanthropic, especially our students,” Ashley said.
