Speech Team showcases talent

The 2016-17 Heidelberg Speech Team (L-R): Hannah Petitti, Coach Dan Higgins, Bethany Beaver and Colin Higgins.

They may be small in number, but they are huge in talent. This year's award-winning Speech Team delivered entertaining, challenging and poignant performances for the campus community Thursday in their annual showcase event.

"It was another great year for the Speech Team," said Coach Dan Higgins. The team recently returned from the Ohio Forensics Association state championship, where they captured the state varsity title and the state novice title.

For the showcase, senior Colin Higgins performed his programmed oral interpretation speech, followed by a dramatic duo speech with teammate Bethany Beaver, also a senior. Bethany delivered an impactful performance in prose interpretation, and junior Hannah Petitti performed an extemporaneous speech.

Senior Justin Mourguet, who also had a strong season, was unable to participate in the showcase because of illness.
