Heidelberg, Habitat Solidify Partnership
After connecting on the HYPE Third-Year Common Experience last fall, Heidelberg University and Habitat for Humanity have solidified their partnership.
Last month, the university learned that its application to create a chartered Habitat student chapter had been approved. The TYCE Blitz Build laid the foundation for the Heidelberg chapter, forming an organized partnership with Habitat for Humanity.
"The affiliation makes the Seneca County Habitat for Humanity and Heidelberg closer," said junior Chase Morrison, who was a main organizer of the Blitz Build and who now is taking leadership of the new student chapter.
Volunteering through the Blitz Build on new home construction was the first step in forming a chapter and it is one of several requirements that student chapters fulfill. The others include fundraising, advocacy and education.
