Emerging Scholar Award honors Jo-Ann Lipford Sanders
This year, at the MAC 30th Anniversary and End of the Year Celebration, the Chi Sigma Iota board and MAC alumni announced the creation of the Dr. Jo-Ann Lipford Sanders Emerging Scholar Award and the first recipient of the award.
The award is named to honor Dr. Jo-Ann Lipford Sanders, current dean of the School Education & Counseling, for her service and dedication to the MAC program. Chi Sigma Iota and counseling alumni sponsored the Emerging Scholar Award to encourage and support promising new counseling students. This scholarship is awarded to a student who demonstrates character strengths such as persistence and motivation, resourcefulness, professional ethics and behavior, openness to feedback and acceptance of other cultures and points of view. It is rooted in a legacy of high expectations, professionalism and excellence.
This year’s recipient and winner of a $250 book scholarship is Morgan Stohlman, a new inductee of Chi Sigma Iota. Mo is in her first year in the counseling program on the clinical track. She is a graduate assistant for special programs at the Saurwein Health & Wellness Center and an assistant softball coach. Congrats and great job, Mo!
