Learning the ropes of being a 'Berg alum

SAA member Gaby Poliseno hands out alumni gifts to graduating seniors.

More than 100 graduating seniors, Heidelberg faculty and staff, and members of the Senior Leadership Team gathered in The University Commons and Fireside Café Pub for the annual Beyond the Berg celebration on Thursday, April 21. The event, which is designed to give the seniors a jump start on life as alumni of Heidelberg, is co-sponsored by the Office of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving and Student Alumni Association.

Students who attended received the very popular Heidelberg Alumni license plate covers, a 10% off coupon to the bookstore and personalized Heidelberg business cards.

Highlights of the night included a bon fire pit, time to mingle with faculty members and a lively game of Heidelberg trivia. Kelsie Vaske addressed her classmates about the importance of giving back to Heidelberg. Nearly $700 was raised from 22 donors who stepped forward to make their first gift to The Heidelberg Fund. The class of 2016 set the participation record, surpassing the classes of 2015, 2014 and 2013. Seniors who made a gift of $20.16 were able to sign up to honor an individual in the commencement program. Those who contributed $50 or more will be recognized with other young alumni as members of the Fellow Organization.

For seniors still interested in making their gift, there is still time. You have until June 30. Contact Ashley Helmstetter at x2231 or email ahelmste@Heidelberg.edu or Katie McCrystal at X2486 or kmccryst@heidelberg.edu for more information.
