Students venture to Detroit for museum experience

About 50 students and four faculty and staff members traveled to Detroit on April 19 to tour the African American History Museum. The students are from Dr. David Hogan’s HIS 385 African-American History class and Dr. Ginny Gregg’s PSY 407 Multicultural Psychology Class.

Students seemed to enjoy the experience. Senior Katie Mullins said it was a great opportunity to have an experience outside the classroom in an area of study that is widespread across different classes. “The museum was great and it was nice learning in a different atmosphere,” Katie said. “I would definitely go again if the opportunity came up.”

The group also dined at Steve’s Soul Food restaurant. “It was a very enjoyable day with our students and colleagues,” David said.

Provost Beth Schwartz and Chaplain Paul Stark also went on the field trip.
