Kelsey Stanfield, Aaron McCoy win Snyder Prize; Barry Devine is Faculty Member of the Year

With all of the excitement, energy and enthusiasm of a true celebration, the Heidelberg community came together on Friday to honor students, faculty and staff members for their achievements inside and outside the classroom at the annual Student Awards Celebration.

President Rob Huntington shared “the wonderful feeling of excellence” in academics, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, service and research performed by everyone who worked so hard this past year.

Kelsey Stanfield and Aaron McCoy are this year’s recipients of the Daniel J. and W.J.K Snyder Prize, awarded to the top graduating seniors who faculty judged to have excelled during their four years at Heidelberg in leadership based on character and scholarship. Ti’Kyran Fikes is this year’s recipient of the Burghalter Memorial Award, given to a student who best exemplifies the spirit of the Good Samaritan.

Kailyn Kroll was chosen to give the student remarks at the celebration. She titled her remarks “Pursuing the ‘You’ You Want.” Basing her remarks around the famed Dr. Seuss quote, “Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind,” Kailyn talked about the journey of self-discovery that her 2024 classmates experienced together. In their quest to find their true selves, Kailin encouraged them to keep pursuing their passions and that will “fuel what you love.”
