Fond farewell to our retiring colleagues

President Rob Huntington shares a moment with retiring faculty and staff members Dr. Blake Grangaard, Dr. Bill Reyer and Gail Roberts.

The campus community came together Friday to bid a fond farewell to retiring colleagues Dr. Bill Reyer, professor of English; Dr. Blake Grangaard, professor of religion; and Gail Roberts, director of the Heidelberg Bookstore. Combined, these three have served Heidelberg for 92 years: Bill for 36, Blake for 22 and Gail for 34. Also retiring this year is Steve Moomaw, a custodian with Krammes Service Center. He was unable to attend the reception.

President Rob Huntington shared his reflections and memories of the soon-to-be retirees, saying that Blake has provided ongoing advice from the time they met during the presidential search process. He thanked Gail for her patience and friendly, helpful approach and Bill, the Heidelberg poet-in-residence, for his creativity and their shared passion for poetry. Vice President for Academic Affairs & Provost Dr. Beth Schwartz provided a summary of Blake's and Bill's Heidelberg careers, and Vice President for Administration and Business Affairs Hoa Nguyen provided the same for Gail.

Congratulations to all and best wishes for healthy, happy retirement years!
