In-person Commencement set for Aug. 29

The COVID-19 pandemic may have forced us to cancel our traditional Commencement ceremony on Sunday, but we’re not about to let the accomplishments of the Class of ’20 go unrecognized. On Saturday, August 29, we are planning to hold an in-person Commencement to celebrate the class and officially welcome them into the Heidelberg alumni family.

By announcing the date now, students, their families, friends and special guests will have time to make plans to attend the celebration on campus.

“It is our intent to hold the ceremony on that day, and we will do so unless other information comes forward that would cause us to alter our plans,” said Interim Provost Bryan Smith. “We will be prepared to follow all of the guidelines required by federal, state and local authorities regarding safely gathering while practicing social distancing, hand sanitizing and other health and safety precautions.”

A committee comprised of students from the Class of ’20, along with faculty and staff members, worked together to arrive at this date.

As our celebration approaches, watch your ‘Berg email for important logistical information, which will include registration details that we will announce in the coming weeks.

Best wishes to the Class of 2020 and we hope to see many of you back on campus on Saturday, August 29!
