Annual Pride event turns to caravan amid pandemic

For the second year, the community organization Seneca Proud recently hosted Pride events in the Tiffin community. Current and past MAC students Courtney Hughes Ksenich, Savannah Long and Autumn Crawford, as well as Professor Dr. Meagan McBride, all helped to organize the year's events.

In light of COVID-19, Seneca Proud hosted the area's first Pride Caravan to celebrate, build awareness and amplify representation of the LGBTQ+ community. This caravan consisted of 20-plus cars, trucks, vans, scooters and motorcycles proudly displaying Pride, progress and identity flags. Cars boasted artwork, and intersectionality of black folks’ beauty and worth was a paramount message throughout.

The caravan toured downtown, passed the Tiffin Middle School, Columbian High school as well as Heidelberg and Tiffin University campuses.

The Advertiser-Tribune showcased Pride events on the front page, showing progress and inclusivity, and each year Heidelberg & MAC students have been active in this work.
