Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2022 announced

The "Class of Champions" to be inducted on Sept. 17

This year's induction class may be one of the most star-studded in the history of the Heidelberg University Athletic Hall of Fame.  Four individuals -- all NCAA Division III National Champions -- will comprise the 36th group to enter the hall.  

The inductees:

Greg Tyson '09, Men's Track & Field and Men's Basketball:

Two-time national champion (2009 Indoor long jump and 2010 Indoor long jump and eight-time All-American. 12-time NCAA qualifier in six different events. Received OAC's Most Outstanding Field Athlete three times. 11-time OAC Champion. Still holds three school records. All-OAC basketball player and four-year letterman. Member of 2008-09 OAC Tournament Champion team. Amassed 971 career points (38th all-time) and 207 assists (15th all-time).

Joe Pflug '10, Wrestling:  

2006 National Champion at 157 pounds. Placed third at nationals in 2007. Named OAC Most Outstanding Wrestler in 2007.  Two-time OAC Champion. Compiled a 52-4 record over parts of three seasons. Heidelberg's only wrestling national champion.

Judi Bataille '10, Women's Track & Field:

Two-time national champion (2008 Indoor 55M dash and 2009 Indoor 55M dash) and four-time All-American. Received OAC's Most Outstanding Track Athlete in 2010. Eight-time OAC Champion. Still holds nine school records (six individual, three relays).

Nate Davis '12, Men's Track & Field and Men's Basketball:

Two-time national champion (2013 Indoor high jump and 2013 Outdoor high jump) and five-time All-American. Five-time NCAA qualifier. Six-time OAC Champion. Still holds indoor and outdoor high jump school records. Two-time All-OAC basketball honoree and four-year letterman. Finished career with 226 blocked shots (most all-time), 836 rebounds (third all-time), and 1,102 points (19th all-time).

The Ceremony:

In a departure from the norm, the induction ceremony will not take place during Homecoming Weekend. Instead, the event will be a key part of Family Weekend.  

The luncheon, open to the public,  will begin at noon on Saturday, September 17, 2022. Honorees will also receive on-field recognition before the Heidelberg-Ohio Northern football game that evening.  Ticket information will be released at a later date.
