Gundlach makeover nears completion ...

You may already be aware that comfortable new seats were installed in Gundlach Theatre in June. As part of that major facelift, the interior walls were painted and new carpeting is also in place.

But you may not know that Gundlach is about to become more user friendly to hearing impaired patrons. Plans are moving forward to install a hearing loop system to enhance the theatre experience for hearing impaired. According to Rod Morrison, individuals whose hearing devices are compatible will be able to access the loop. For those who don’t have that ability, two headsets will be available for their use.

Heidelberg is working with local audiologist Larry Schmidbauer, who introduced the concept.

“Larry has an interest and passion to see that facilities for the performing arts can be maximized for the hearing impaired,” Rod said. “We are grateful tor Larry’s interest and help in making this system available to use.”

Plans also are in the works for improved house lighting in Gundlach, and proposals will be sought soon.

“At the end of the day, we’ll have a nearly completely retooled Gundlach Theatre for everyone to enjoy,” Rod added.
