A very special banner carrier

Emilee Lester, '17, and Mike Brown lead the Marching Band down South Washington Street in the Heritage Festival Parade.

The Heidelberg Marching Band made an impressive showing at this year's Heritage Festival parade on Saturday, Sept. 2. Their appearance was made special by the return of '17 alum Emilee Lester, who traveled from her home in Marion to carry the band's banner along with Director of Admission Mike Brown. You may remember that Emilee and her good friend, Allie Gales, were seriously injured in a car accident just days before their graduation last May. Since then, they have made great strides in their recovery. After receiving her prosthetic leg about a month ago -- it's adorned with Columbus Blue Jackets logos and player autographs -- her next step will be to get a car that will allow her to drive again.
