Health Science program ranked third best

Heidelberg’s Health Science program – one of the fastest growing and most popular -- has landed near the top of Learn.org’s rankings of the 50 Best Health Science Degrees for the current academic year. The rankings, which place Heidelberg at No. 3, are a tool that helps students research schools, degrees and careers and find out if Heidelberg is an ideal fit for them.

In the rapidly growing field of health care, Heidelberg’s Health Science program can be a pre-professional track for many health-related educational and career paths, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing, and physician assistant studies, among others. It also is an excellent pathway into the new Master of Arts in Athletic Training program.

Health Science combines the study of clinical, psycho-social, organizational and societal aspects of health, disease and health care. Students study the use of technology in health care, behavioral and organizational interventions, and use that knowledge to improve health and patient-centered care for their patients.

Heidelberg health science students also work one-on-one with faculty, giving them an added level of personal attention, opportunities and diverse experiences that can lead to an advantage when applying for grad school.

To compile its rankings list, Learn.org considered hundreds of universities across the country, selecting Heidelberg based on academic and career resources, the quality of education, faculty and more. Learn.org also took into account academic excellence, program choice and flexibility, and student opportunities, as well as U.S. Department of Education data on graduation rates, tuition and student-to-faculty ratio.
