The state of the economy -- live
The U.S. economy has continued to make progress as labor markets improve and GDP growth picked up in the second quarter of 2016. But headline inflation remains below target. These were the assessments of Dr. Rubén Hernández-Murillo, a senior policy economist in the External Outreach and Regional Analytics Group at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. Hernández-Murillo was on campus for the School of Business-FED State of the Economy event Tuesday.
Hernández-Murillo told a group gathered in Gundlach Theatre that comparatively, the economy in the district has continued to grow at a modest pace while employment growth also has been slower than the national average.
The State of the Economy event was the first held live on campus. Typically, the School of Business connects with FED experts via videoconference.
