MAC supports Max's Miles suicide prevention event

Master of Arts in Counseling (MAC) students gathered Sunday at Hedges-Boyer Park to volunteer for Max’s Miles, an annual community awareness and education event for suicide prevention.

As the MAC students are developing as future counselors, crisis responders, and professionals who provide psychoeducation, they helped to set up, tear down, participated in the dog and community walks and heard community members speak about their personal experiences for Max’s Miles.

Max’s Miles is a community suicide prevention event that is a collaboration between the Sandusky, Seneca, Wyandot Mental Health Board, various agencies and community members. Its goal is to bring awareness to the mental health crisis in the area and provide information on available services.

The event is sponsored by the Suicide Prevention Coalition, which has representation from current MAC students and alumni. The Suicide Prevention Coalition partners with MAC and provides annual scholarships to developing MAC counselors.
