PALS welcomes Maj. Gen. Gale Pollock; RSVP deadline extended

If you haven't signed up to attend next week's Patricia Adams Lecture Series dinner and keynote, there's still time!

The deadline to RSVP has been extended to Monday, Oct. 10. Heidelberg has invited all local veterans and active duty military personnel to attend the dinner and keynote by Maj. Gen. Gale Pollock free of charge, so if you know a veteran, please invite them!

Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, in Seiberling Gymnasium and is preceded by a reception and cash bar at 5:45 p.m. To RSVP, click here or contact Sue Berryman at x2386 or sberryma@heidelberg.edu. The cost for those who choose the vegetarian or the chicken option will be $15. The cost for those who choose the steak option will be $25.

The topic of the keynote address is How to Define and Attain Success, Make Your Goals and Dreams a Reality. Musical entertainment will be provided by the Marching Band, under the direction of Jon Waters.

In addition to dinner, you are encouraged to come to two day-time sessions by Maj. Gen. Pollock. At 11 a.m., she will present Life Lessons from Boot Camp. At 2 p.m., her topic is Breaking theMilitary Ceiling -- A Woman Pioneer. Please note that both sessions will be held in Wickham Great Hall.

About Maj. Gen. Gale Pollock

Maj. Gen. Gale Pollock  is the first woman and non-physician to serve as the acting surgeon general of the U.S. Army. She became a certified nurse anesthetist soon after her graduation from the University of Maryland. While in the Army, she served as commander of the U.S. Army Medical Command in addition to her surgeon general role. She was the 22nd chief of the Army Nurse Corps.

In 2008, Maj. Gen. Pollock established the Louis J. Fox Center for Vision Restoration and was an associate professor at the University of Pittsburgh Schools of Medicine and Nursing. In 2011, she was named a Harvard University Fellow in the Advanced Leadership Initiative. Now retired from military service, she continues her service on numerous advisory boards and is the owner of Pollock Associates, LLC. She is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American Academy of Nursing and the National Board of Corporate Directors. She holds master’s degrees in business administration from Boston University, healthcare administration from Baylor University and national security and strategy from the National Defense University.
