Abbie Stine, Ty Poorman crowned HOCO Royalty; ’75 queen honored 50 years later
Big ’Berg congratulations to seniors Abbie Stine and Ty Poorman, who students selected as the 2025 Heidelberg Homecoming Royalty. Abbie and Ty were honored at halftime of Heidelberg’s home victory vs. Capital on Saturday. Abbie is a biology major from Norwalk, Ohio, and Ty hails from Orlando, Florida, and is a sport management major.
Also serving on this year’s Homecoming Court were:
- Ethan Rieman, Arcanum, Ohio, Business Administration major
- Ilyeis Franks, McComb, Ohio, Business Administration
- Riley Tople, Plymouth, Michigan, Marketing
- Josh Ferndon, Lapeer, Michigan, Environmental Science & Sustainability and Communication
- Ellie Tressler, Pickerington, Ohio, Education
- Kerry Copenhaver, Bellefontaine, Ohio, Sport Management
- Cole Miller, New Riegel, Ohio, Music Education
- Owen Frizzell, Pickerington, Ohio, Criminology and Psychology

A special Homecoming moment also occurred when Jessie (Cole) Kubuske, the Homecoming queen in 1975, returned to celebrate the anniversary of her special moment 50 years ago to the day. Ashley Helmstetter, Vice President of Advancement, Marketing, Alumni, and College Relations, surprised Jessie with a crown to call her own (since she didn’t get to keep the crown from her senior Homecoming five decades ago). This one is hers forever!
Prior to the game, the Court participated in the annual Homecoming Parade on Greenfield Street. Earlier in the week, they displayed their unique talents at the Homecoming Showcase. A series of Homecoming events for students was organized by the Berg Events Council around this year’s theme of “Jurassic Berg.”
