ATR students practice triage at Chicago Marathon

During Fall Break, seven students and two faculty members served as medical volunteers at the Chicago Marathon, one of the world's largest marathons with more than 48,000 runners competing.

The Heidelberg volunteers were part of the mobile triage teams that assisted distressed and injured runners at the finish line. "This experience is very unique for students to see a large volume of heat illnesses, injuries and ailments in an extremely diverse group of people," said Dr. Jena Suffel, who accompanied the group as a faculty advisor.

ATR students want to thank those who assisted with their fund-raising for the trip.

Participants included: front row (L-R) -- Hannah Kilps, Lauren McGraw (faculty) and Ashley Mermolia; back row (L-R) -- Lexi Whitney, Justine Mitchell, Mattie Overmyer, Jessica Ballow, Morgan Fultz and Jena Suffel (faculty).
