Faculty & Staff Pursuits: Week of Dec. 8, 2025

Dr. Doug McConnell (Music Composition, Emeritus) has recently released a CD, While I Run This Race. Two of the major works on the CD, Langston’s Log and While I Run This Race, were performed in programs at Brenneman Music Hall prior to Doug’s retirement. The recording is available for sale in the Heidelberg Bookstore (cost: $11) in addition to listening via streaming.

Here is some background on the CD as well as a news article about it.

Additionally, Doug continues to work with the Heidelberg Theatre Department. Over the years, he has provided incidental music for a number of theatre productions – a tradition that continues in retirement; the pace has picked up a bit since Karla Kash has become the artistic director. Doug just finished with the fall production of Macbeth in November. His next project will be to compose incidental music for the Theatre’s production of Alice in Wonderland/Alice Through the Looking Glass, in February.
