Donors open doors; on TAG Day, we say thanks!

We aDOORe our donors, and because we do … 1,300--plus thank-you cards to donors were signed … more than 100 students participated in sharing their appreciation by volunteering to sign the cards … 400-plus “tags” were placed across campus … thank-you cards are headed for mailboxes now.

The rainy, gray day certainly couldn’t dampen the spirits of those who came together to make the 12th annual TAG (short for Thank A Giver) Day a huge success.

You couldn’t miss the tags placed around campus – on individuals, buildings and items that are here because of donors -- a visible reminder of the many opportunities that ’Berg donors have provided. TAG Day is the perfect way to say thanks to donors for opening doors of opportunity, especially for students.

The Student Alumni Association – working in collaboration with Alumni Engagement advisors Ashley Helmstetter, Sydney Hieronymus and Bob Youngblood – organized and staffed TAG Day. Congrats to SAA members for planning and executing such a successful event: Kailyn Kroll, Jeanna Fullom, Aubrey Baker, Ilyeis Franks, J.T. Orahood, Tristin Buurma, Sarah Grosse, Jimmy Johnston, Matthew Kittle, Rayce Septer, Kyla Stockdale and Abbey Yarris.

TAG Day is held annually in honor of National Philanthropy Day. This year’s theme was “We aDOORe our donors!” Although the day is fun-filled, its underlying concept is to teach our students about the joy of philanthropy and to reinforce the advantages it gives them and the essential ways it touches every phase of the university.

“TAG Day was created with two goals in mind. Educate our students about philanthropy and steward and acknowledge all of those generous donors who support the university,” Ashley said. “TAG Day achieves those goals and much more each year. I love this tradition with our students."
