Justice in action -- on campus

Judge Steve Shuff considers a motion during a hearing Tuesday on campus.

As he has done for a number of years, Judge Steve Shuff, a '75 'Berg alum, brought his Common Pleas courtroom to campus to give students the opportunity to see justice in action. The event is held annually in observance of Constitution Day.

Between cases, Shuff came out from behind his makeshift bench in Herbster Chapel to candidly answer students' questions about the judicial process. In his 38 years as an attorney, prosecutor and now judge, Shuff says he's seen just about everything in the courtroom. But he assured the students that what they witnessed on Tuesday is different than courtroom dramas they see on TV. "This is real life, folks."
