Local businesses partner with Owen Center for Study-a-thon fun

There was more going on at the Fall Semester Study-a-thon than just studying last Sunday. Organized by the Owen Center for Teaching and Learning, students enjoyed stress relief activities and crafts as they prepped for exams this week.

Oh, and also they participated in a raffle for some pretty awesome prizes, thanks to the generosity of local retailers, Parkhurst, Heidelberg’s dining partner, and 'Berg staff members who donated items for eight themed baskets.

About 200 students stopped by Beeghly Library to take part in the daylong Study-a-thon that stretched until 10:45 in the evening. While there, they received academic support from the Owens team, including SI sessions, tutoring, writing coaching and academic coaching throughout the day.

Study-a-thon gift baskets

Students who attended received a pair of raffle tickets that they could bid on to receive one of eight gift baskets.

The Owen Center wishes to thank the following local businesses for their contributions and for partnering with them to make this semester’s Study-a-thon such a huge success:

  • Jolly's Drive-in: Gift card and chips
  • Clover Club/Champs: T-shirt & tank top
  • Pit Stop: Energy drinks + breakfast bars
  • Seneca Starview: 20 movie passes
  • Bailiwicks: 10 free drinks
  • Pan-Yan: Gift card + two books
  • FroZone: Gift cards
  • The Deli Cafe: Gift certificate
  • Parkhurst Dining: Full gift basket
