On the rise: Women's swimmers earn academic recognition

Evidence of a program on the rise, the Heidelberg University Women's Swimming team was named a College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team for the Fall 2024 semester.

To earn this prestigious recognition, teams were required to achieve a grade point average (GPA) above 3.0 during the Fall 2024 semester. Under the tutelage of Head Coach Ben Rath, the women's swimming team has seen tremendous growth in its second season as a varsity program.

"It's never easy to build a program from the ground up, but these student-athletes have really bought into our vision of what this program can become," Ben said. "Earning the CSCAA Scholar All-America honor was one of the early benchmarks we had. As we continue to grow, we will maintain our focus on achieving success in the classroom and in the pool."

The women's team, along with the men's team, are deep in preparation for the upcoming OAC Championships, held at the University of Akron from Feb. 12-15.
