Flexibility: 'Berg launches new major geared toward degree completion

Heidelberg University understands that life happens and plans change. But that doesn’t mean you can’t finish your degree. It’s all about flexibility.

Heidelberg has launched a new General Studies major, designed for students who are close to completing their bachelor’s degree but need a flexible pathway to graduation, according to Dr. Courtney DeMayo Pugno, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost.

“Finishing your degree is within reach,” Courtney said. “At Heidelberg, we have simplified the process so that you can graduate on your terms.”

The General Studies major allows students to optimize previously earned credits with a combination of courses from different academic areas to complete their degrees. “You can tailor your coursework to fit your interests and career goals,” Courtney said. “This is a clear and efficient pathway to your diploma.”

Requirements include completing a minimum of 30 credit hours, possibly more, in these areas:
•    At least 6 credit hours at the 200 level
•    At least 15 credit hours at the 300/400 level
•    At least 6 additional credit hours of elective courses
•    A capstone course (3 credit hours), choosing from an already designated capstone course, an on-campus practicum experience or an internship in any discipline.

The sooner you apply, the sooner you can secure your schedule and get back on track.

Contact the Office of Admission at Heidelberg (419-448-2330) to enroll or ask questions about the General Studies major and requirements.
