'Berg has the cure for the summertime blues: summer camps

Heidelberg University is excited to offer a variety of enriching summer camp experiences for high-school students this July. From vocal arts to healthcare professions and water quality research to exercise science, these camps provide invaluable opportunities for hands-on learning and skill development.

Vocal Arts Camps: Explore Your Vocal Potential | July 13-18th

The Heidelberg School of Music & Theatre invites aspiring singers ages 13-18 to join the six-day summer Vocal Arts Camp. Participants have the opportnity to receive expert voice lessons, masterclasses and training in vocal ensembles – helping students to explore their vocal potential. The camp also offers interactive workshops on auditioning techniques, acting for singing, stage movement and singing in foreign languages. All participants will be cast in the camp’s production of Amélie: the Musical, giving students the chance to perform on stage.

The residential rate is $575, and the commuter rate is $475. A non-refundable $100 deposit is due by June 15, with the remaining balance due by July 7.

Explore the Future of Healthcare: Health Professions Camp | July 16-19th

Heidelberg’s Health Sciences Division is offering a hands-on three-day resident camp for current high school students interested in pursuing careers in healthcare. Running from Wednesday, July 16, at 6 p.m. to Saturday, July 19, at noon, the camp will provide students the chance to explore fields such as athletic training, physician assistant, nursing, dietetics, and chiropractic care. Participants will engage in classroom sessions and interactive activities like casting and team competitions. 

The camp is open to students graduating between 2025 and 2028. The cost is $400, covering housing, meals, and all activities. An optional CPR and First Aid training course will be available on Saturday from noon-5 p.m. for an additional $50.

Become a Water Detective: River and Wetlands Exploration Camp | July 16-19th

Join the National Center for Water Quality Research for a hands-on, four-day Water Detectives: River and Wetlands Camp. Campers will explore local streams and wetlands, using specialized water quality equipment to assess the biological, chemical, and physical components of these vital ecosystems. After collecting their own data, campers will analyze it to determine water quality and understand how their findings impact real-world decisions and policies surrounding freshwater conservation. 

The camp is open to current high school students who will graduate between 2025 and 2028. The cost of the camp is $400, covering housing, meals, and all activities. 

Strengthen Your Knowledge: Exercise Science Camp | July 16-19th

Be a part of Heidelberg’s Exercise Science Department’s immersive three-day summer camp. Students will explore the science of movement, fitness and athletic performance along with kinesiology. This camp offers insight into the growing field of exercise science through strength testing, power testing, metabolic assessment, electrocardiogram, body composition, and performance assessment. Campers will also participate in hands-on learning opportunities such as metabolic testing, skinfold testing, velocity-based training, movement screening and instructing and coaching techniques. 

The cost for this camp is $400, which includes housing, meals and all activities.
