CMS Ensemble Interest Form
The Community Music School at Heidelberg University is excited to offer three new ensemble opportunity for community members starting in Spring 2026:
The Seneca Area Youth Chorus is an educationally based choral ensemble that empowers, inspires, and educates young performers in grades 9-12. Through exploring healthy vocal techniques and performance practices, the ensemble offers transformational opportunities for its participants, investing in and cultivating lasting relationships within the Greater Seneca County community. The ensemble is led by Dr. Gregory Ramsdell, School Chair of the School of Music and Theatre and Director of Choral Activities at Heidelberg University. Rehearsals will be every Sunday from 5:30-7:00pm in Pancoast Recital Hall at Heidelberg University starting January 11th, 2026. Fee: $25
The Heidelberg Youth Wind Ensemble (HYWE) is a group for woodwind, brass, and percussion performers within the community that provides students with the opportunity to develop advanced ensemble skills, explore exciting and challenging wind band literature, and work with university conductors and guest artists in a supportive, inspiring environment. Led by Dr. Ben Herrick, Director of Bands at Heidelberg University, HYWE emphasizes musical growth, teamwork, and performance excellence—while fostering friendships and a lifelong love of music. Rehearsals will be every Thursday from 6:00-7:30 pm in Ohl Concert Hall at Heidelberg University starting January 15th, 2026. For grades 9-12. Fee: $25
The Heidelberg University-Community Chorus brings together singers from both Heidelberg and the surrounding community. The ensemble enriches the community through concert performances and choral music education. In addition to their regularly scheduled concerts, members of the chorus perform in the annual Messiah concert. The ensemble is led by Dr. Gregory Ramsdell, School Chair of the School of Music and Theatre and Director of Choral Activities at Heidelberg University. Rehearsals will be every Thursday from 6:30-8:00pm in Pancoast Recital Hall at Heidelberg University starting January 8th, 2026. Fee: $50
Those interested may fill out the form below to participate. Fees are to help offset costs associated with the ensembles included music and staffing. If this presents a financial barrier for any student, please contact cms@heidelberg.edu for a potential scholarship to participate. Deadline is January 1st, 2026.
