New leaders bring experience, Heidelberg connections to campus dining

There’s new leadership in the kitchen — and plenty of experience behind it.

Heidelberg Dining, powered by Parkhurst Dining, welcomes Cory Wells as general manager and Josh Herron as executive head chef, bringing together more than 45 years of hospitality, culinary and dining experience.

Cory joins Heidelberg with more than 20 years of experience in higher education dining, healthcare foodservice and multi-unit operations. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation for developing high-performing teams, strengthening client relationships and leading organizations through periods of growth, change and operational transformation.

Most recently, he served on Parkhurst’s turnaround and stabilization team, helping dining programs strengthen operations, develop teams and build stronger relationships with campus partners.

A people-first leader, Cory is passionate about creating positive team cultures and exceptional experiences for guests and clients. Throughout his career, he has stepped into complex operational environments and helped transform them into engaged, service-focused organizations. He is recognized for his ability to build relationships, inspire trust, and bring people together around a shared vision.

Cory holds a bachelor’s degree in hospitality administration from Purdue University and an associate’s degree in culinary arts from Ivy Tech Community College.

As general manager, Cory will focus on building strong partnerships across campus, supporting the dining team and creating a program that reflects Heidelberg’s values and the needs of the campus community.

A Tiffin connection

Josh brings a special Heidelberg connection to his new role. A Tiffin native and proud Heidelberg graduate, he has more than 25 years of experience in the restaurant and event-planning industry. He previously served as Heidelberg Dining’s executive sous chef, where he gained extensive experience in kitchen management, menu development, staff mentorship and day-to-day operations.

Josh’s collaborative approach and people-centered leadership style are grounded in communication, accountability and respect. He values teamwork and a passion for developing others. As executive head chef, he will lead the culinary team in creating fresh, memorable dining experiences while fostering a culture where people can grow and thrive.

For Josh, the opportunity is also a chance to give back to the community where he was raised and where he and his wife are raising two daughters. He takes pride in serving the university he calls his alma mater.

Both Cory and Josh share a commitment to one important ingredient in a successful dining program: people. Their combined experience and people-centered leadership will help Heidelberg Dining continue to create welcoming spaces and experiences for students, faculty, staff, and guests.
