Remembering genocide victims

An extension of our Lichtman-Behm Genocide Lecture Series, the Heidelberg community participated in the #TogetherWeRemember event Sunday and Monday to remember those who were victims of genocide. #TogetherWeRemember is a global day of remembrance and activism in honor of victims of genocide through coordinated name readings in communities across the world and on social media. This project was started by David Estrin, the grandson of Jimmy Lichtman, when David was a student at Duke University. It has spread to college campuses in the U.S. and around the world.

Julie Arnold and members of the Lichtman-Behm Genocide Lecture Series Planning Committee coordinated the #TogetherWeRemember event, which drew a large number of student participants this year. The committee has begun planning for the fall series, returning this year to the topic of the Holocaust.
