Student playwrights tackle real-life issues

'Berg playwrights Lilly Ellis and Kyrsten Lilly

Sometimes, personal experiences make the most relevant and interesting plot lines for the stage. Senior Kyrsten Lilly wanted to try something non-traditional for her Honors capstone project. So rather than research, she selected to write a play. Junior Lilly Ellis wrote her play just because she loves the theatre and wanted the experience. Although works in progress, both plays were featured this week during the School of Music & Theatre's Playwright's Festival. Both revolve around interesting family dynamics and how individual family members cope with the challenges of mental illness.
